It's Autism in the Palace of Westminster on Wednesday 16th January 2008 with the focus on parents, carers and all people with autism and Asperger's Syndromwe in the United Kingdom. The call for a day for autism in parliament was made by Ivan Corea, head of the Autism Awareness Campaign UK.

Baroness Pola Uddin has tabled a question in the House of Lords in support of the Autism Awareness Campaign UK. She fully supports the call for a national strategy on autism and a 10 year plan of action. Baroness Uddin has urged Prime Minister Gordon Brown to launch an AUTISM TASKFORCE to look at the serious education and health issues connected with autism and Asperger's Syndrome.
Lee Scott MP for Ilford North and member of the House of Commons Seclect Committee will introduce his AUTISM BILL immediately after Prime Minister's Questions in the chamber. Lee Scott has been championing the cause of autism in Parliament. Last year he initiated a landmark debate on autism in Westminster Hall. He also asked the Prime Minister a question on autism in PMQs in April 2007 and together with Ivan Corea met with Prime Minister Tony Blair on the subject of autism.
MPs are tabling a series of questions on autism and are proposing to sign an early day motion in parliament in support of a day for autism.
The Children's Secretary Ed Balls will also address the All Party Parliamentary Group on autism in the Palace of Westminster.
